Dottie is so sweet and friendly! She is about 9 years old and a little thing at only 10 pounds. Though, don't let her size deceive you. She is quite the agile and adventurous pup!

Did you see the recent movie Wonder Woman? Well, she was originally cast as a lead character, but decided she didn't want the paparazzi following her everywhere after becoming a huge Hollywood star. She has decided she would rather settle in to a furever home and live a simple life full of love, fun, and snuggles.

Dottie is sight-impaired -- she likely sees large shapes and shadows and is mostly blind -- this doesn't stop her from being like any other pup. This is where her wonder pup strengths come in to play! She gets around perfectly and when she goes somewhere new, she struts around like she owns the joint. Since she has this impairment, she needs to be told where steps are.  Simply saying the word “step” tells her a step up or down is imminent. Then she uses her super power nose to map out her surroundings and navigates areas like she's been doing it for years! She's even been seen at the top of a couch, using her invisible dog skills to monitor the premises for any evil doers.

She loves tennis balls, a squeaky stuffed toy owl and enjoys throwing them around too. She will even chase after a ball... by scent! When she played cornhole, she chased the bean bag each time it was tossed. She even caught it once! Impressive, right?! Evil doers still haven't figured out how she is able to do this. And she will never let them!

Dottie is playful, cuddly, and loves meeting new people. Not only is this wonder dog athletic and spirited, she is also loving. If she could give kisses all day, she would! Whenever her foster mom is on the couch, her favorite place is on her lap. Dottie is eager to be with her foster family; she will follow them everywhere while at home or out on a leash. She is happy to equally give and receive affection. She loves her peps so much that she will whimper when she is alone.

Dottie is doing a great job learning how to interact with other dogs and needs a little time and space to warm up to them. She enjoys the company of quiet, calm, and submissive dogs. She would do well with someone who can continue to help her learn about proper interactions with pups. She doesn't need another dog, but if she's on her own, she'd be better if she wasn't home alone for full workdays.

Like most wonder dogs, Dottie is already potty trained. She doesn't like being crated and prefers to have free roam in the house. What wonder woman doesn't want to be free in their arena!?

Dottie would make the perfect companion pup. She is calm and quiet in the car and is always ready for an adventure. Going on walks is one of her favorite things and the longer the walk, the better! Her foster mom takes her to work sometimes and she is always very well-behaved. She even knows "come", "sit" , “stay”, “down” and “potty” commands and is happy to demonstrate these skills for you. She enjoys treats such as Zuke’s Mini Naturals.

If you are ready for a sweetie who will warm your heart and be the wonder dog in your life, Dottie is your gal!

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:

http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website

www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications

and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
